Report Tables.

Thursday, January 3, 2019.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0130 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Welcome to the net, Bill. Jay still on his boat, in dock. Conditions on both bands seemed extremely poor tonight. Thanks everyone for coming up, and I look forward to working you all again on the net. Conditions have to improve!
- De KT5LA: ATAS antenna mounted to the sternrail of my 35' sailboat, at the dock in CA.
- De W1SFR: Very faint sigs tonight on the net Darrel. 119 with hvy QRN. Not enough there to copy. I'll try again next week.
- De KA5TJS: Unavailable.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0120 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: 95 watts at first, then QRO to kW on both bands. Very poor conditions - the worst I can remember on 40m. QSY early to 80m.
- De W1SFR: 40 was terrible here as well. Most signals in the mud but several years of QRP ops certainly does help when the S meter shows nothing and you can still get some useful copy. HiHi.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: 80m very much better than 40m, although still not great. Thanks everyone for coming up and persevering in such bad conditions.
- De KA5TJS: 80 was still very QSB but Darrel and Don were solid. Winter and 80 will win every time I think HI HI.
- De W1SFR: 80 much better for me here in VT although we were in the middle of a snow storm. 8" and now 10 deg F here.

40 m: Friday, 0100 - 0125 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Steve was low but fair copy thru the session. I got W5UX in NM and Steve called and got the other two (TNX for the QSP's). KD4ZFS came up to a 579 while Steve was working him but I never did hear Bill WA4FAT.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Steve was lighter on 80 but still copy-able. TJ was booming in and gave Steve a 559 RST. QSB was bad on all but W5UX and K9TJL. QRN was low on both bands tonight.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: Good to have Randy back in the net. From AZ, conditions were excellent on both bands tonight. I wish conditions were always this good.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: On 40m W1SFR 579 QSB - sometimes stronger on my active vertical. This was a great net. From Arizona, great conditions on both bands. An addendum, to confirm the good conditions tonight. I checked RBN immediately after the net. During the net I had received 38 reports on 40m, and 20 RBN reports on 80m. Conditions were good.
- De K7FD: Sri I could not make net last two weeks; hopefully next Thursday!

- De KA5TJS: Wow, report is peaks and QSB was all over but great signals for sure. 40 meters was the winner tonight for sure! Great net Darrel.
- De WA4FAT: How nice to actually be able to hear so many participants in the SSN! Perhaps someday I'll have an antenna for 80 and be able to join in there. In the meantime, 40 it is!

Jay calling in from his sail boat.
- De KT5LA: Operated portable: long wire with an auto tuner. Wire held aloft by halyard. Working on a portable antenna for the summer. Concept needs work. Nice touch on the 30 seconds of silence in remembrance of K3CKT (SK) and PA3DEB (SK).
- De K7FD: Good turnout!
- De WA4FAT: A wonderful SSN, thanks as always to Darrel for his expert leadership as NCS! It was a balmy evening in Alabama and 40 was uncharacteristically quiet. I'm guessing our rambunctious squirrels were no longer cavorting on my stealth dipole.

- De KA5TJS: Well we had a tornado Wed. night so no power here on Thursday. No damage at the QTH but power down all over. I started to try and check in QRP on a battery but was tied up making ham burgers on the pit on the back porch! Had to eat HI HI.

- De VK5BUG: FYI - I monitored 7044kHz from 232350-240010Z & ran my CQ call tape during that time as well. Did not hear anyone from Stateside but perhaps someone heard me? 40 m: Friday, 0000 - 0022 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: W5UX, Bob called me just before the net, but couldn't stay for the net. Allen was a great signal on both bands, but in AZ Steve was much better on 40m. As Steve suggested, we may think of QSY to 80m instead of 30m soon, as the seasons change.
- De KA5TJS: 40 meters was not as good as it had been tonight. Darrel was down and so was Steve. Bill was booming in from AL. 80 meters still very QRN here but we can give it a try!

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Bill was booming in with a great signal. I heard VA3SZ check in but he could not copy and said he would try 30 meters. Never did hear him up there. The QSB was very bad along with QRN from the storms in SETX.
- De AA7FV: Unavailable.

Notes:
- De KA5TJS: Very weak signal on Steve but we managed to copy each other due to very low QRN. He also tried a call and NIL.

40 m: Friday, 0000 - 0030 UTC, 7044 kHz.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: W5UX, Bob called in, but then I lost him. A great net on 40m tonight. Conditions were the best we've had for a long time.
- De W1SFR: Yes with all the doom and gloom about our severe lack of sun spots, mother nature hands us a very good evening on 40m. Whoda thunk that would happen? Good to actually hear folks on the radio and to be able to dig out clean copy when sigs were below my rigs ability to register on the S meter. FT8? Nah. CW all the way.
- De WA4FAT: Great Net and super to hear my sideswiper friends, as always.
- De KA5TJS: Best I have heard Steve this summer.

Notes:
- De AA7FV: First time we've tried 80m this season. Not so good on 80m as 40m tonight. Higher noise level.
- De KA5TJS: The QRN was about S7 so Steve was a rough copy. Darrel was 599 after he turned the after burner on. A good first try on 80 for sure.

Notes:
- De W1SFR: SRI GENTS NO COPY ON 30. WELL I COULD HAVE COPIED IT IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT BUT ALL WERE BELOW THE NOISE FLOOR WHICH WAS PRETTY QUIET ON 30 TONIGHT. SO LOOKS LIKE (AT LEAST FOR ME) 80 WOULD PROBABLY BE A BETTER BET, SO UNTIL WE SWITCH TO 80 I’LL PROBABLY GIVE UP ON 30.
- De KA5TJS: Yep, even with the noise 80 might be a better choice for the second band.
- De WA4FAT: Perhaps one day I'll finagle a 30 M antenna under the Condo Association's RADAR :-)

Notes:
- De K9TJL: The extreme high QRN was probably due to a major cold front moving in from our northwest. This frequency will probably become more active next few weeks, as it is close to a regional traffic net. They shift to this frequency to pass traffic..( stns do not check QRG for busy state.) Typical operations Today world. We have experience high temps in the 70/80, however outlook calls for temp drop of 30/40 degrees today FRIDAY 11th. AA7FV with high power sig was 449. Understandably, as QRN was an S-9.
- De KA5TJS: QRN was so bad on Darrell I did not even try!
- De W1SFR: Yes, 40 was very good. 80 was a bust for me so I didn't bother trying to check in.
